Our mission is to train and educate physicians in our clinical learning environment that values excellence in clinical care, patient safety and quality improvement, and professionalism, and prepare our trainees to be successful physicians in their future careers, including future physician educators, physician scientists, community physicians, and healthcare leaders.

Aims

• To educate and train residents and fellows for successful careers as physicians in a broad range of specialties and subspecialties with the capacity to become leaders in clinical medicine, surgical care, education, research and/or administration.

• To foster a clinical learning environment that emphasizes excellence in clinical care, patient safety and quality improvement, professionalism, teaching and mentorship.

• To promote the health and well-being of communities in Alabama and beyond by training future community and academic physicians in the service of a diverse patient population.

• To promote the well-being of our trainees through resources and programs designed to enhance personal growth and resilience of individuals plus collaboration among teams to provide optimal care of our patients

• To support and equip our residency and fellowship program directors and coordinators in their administrative roles and encourage their collaboration and engagement in the graduate medical education mission.
