Q. Can I charge equipment repair/maintenance to a grant account?

A. Sponsored research projects can pay for equipment repair/maintenance as long as the allocation of the cost is reasonably proportional to the percentage of use in relation to the project(s). In other words, if the equipment is being used 80% for Project X and 20% for Project Y, then the maintenance/repair should be charged to the appropriate accounts accordingly.
