Q: When should I request an at risk account?

A: You should request an at risk account within the non-competing segment of a grant that is not a SNAP award, if there is a request for no-cost extension in process, or for State of Alabama awards that we receive each year.

Q: When should I request a pending account?

A: Pending accounts should be requested for competing segments and for new awards.

Q: What documentation is required, in addition to the request form for pending accounts?

A: Copies of the extramural check list, non-fully executed award must be submitted with the pending account request form.

Q: How soon can I request an at risk or pending account?

A: An at risk or pending account cannot be requested more than a month in advance of when the award is supposed to begin.

Q: My current year award is still at risk or pending, can I request an at risk or pending account for the next year?

A: No, an at risk or pending account will not be established if the previous year is still at risk or pending.

Q: How long is an account allowed to be coded at risk or pending?

A: Grants Ac counting will re-evaluate each award still at risk or pending after six months to determine if the account should be closed. Therefore, it is important to continue to stay in contact with Grants Administration to follow up on the status of the executed award.
