Second Floor

Calorimeter Suite

This is a unique space as very few institutions have a calorimeter room - yet we have a suite with three rooms. Each room is designed to monitor a person's metabolism for 24 hours, which is critical since rates vary by time of the day, activity level, exercise and food intake. The rooms differ in size (small, medium, large) and are similar to a dorm room with a full-size bed plus a desk and chair. Each room will be available for meal testing. The flex room and the largest room can accommodate a stationery bicycle for exercise testing.

On the left is a patient inside a calorimeter room. On the right a researcher has food in one hand and is reaching for the small door to deliver food to the patient.

From inside the calorimeter room we see a patient with their arm extended and a researcher on the outside wearing a mask and working on their arm.

Enhanced Accessibility

The 2nd floor renovation includes the addition of a new rear entrance for enhanced accessibility for our clinical patients and research clients. The updates also include a new waiting area with improved comfort and increased natural light.

Looking toward the glassed in entrance you see silver railings and a marble entryway that is level.

Looking toward the floor to ceiling windows you see comfortable chairs, carpeted floor, and the open stairwell that leads to the first floor.
