Amjad Javed, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry, has been named to the 2025 Class of Fellows of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR). The honor was announced at the ASBMR Annual Meeting in Seattle.
The Fellow of the ASBMR designation recognizes long-term members who have made outstanding contributions to the field of bone and mineral science. Nominees are selected based on their scholarly achievements, service to the Society, and commitment to advancing research and education in skeletal biology. Fellows are nominated by peers and evaluated by a review committee, with final approval by the ASBMR Council.
Javed, who also serves as associate dean for research at the School of Dentistry, has published extensively in the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research and JBMR® Plus. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of bone formation and regeneration, with implications for skeletal diseases and craniofacial development. He has served in multiple leadership roles within ASBMR and other national organizations, contributing to scientific programming, peer review, and mentoring initiatives.
“I am deeply honored to be named a Fellow of ASBMR,” Javed said. “This recognition reflects the collaborative spirit of our research community and the importance of advancing bone and mineral science to improve patient care.”
The ASBMR is the leading professional, scientific and medical society dedicated to the study of bone and mineral metabolism. Through its annual meetings, journals, and advocacy efforts, the Society promotes excellence in research and clinical practice
