John LeJohn Le, D.D.S., M.D., has joined the University of Alabama at Birmingham as an assistant professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Le’s clinical practice encompasses general oral and maxillofacial surgery, trauma, and reconstructive surgery, with a focus on benign and malignant pathology, as well as microvascular reconstruction.

His research interests span enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols following head and neck reconstructive surgery, survival outcomes-based research for head and neck cancer patients, soft and hard tissue regeneration/ wound healing, tissue engineering, and mesenchymal stem cells. He is involved in several organizations, including the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS), American Academy of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons (AACMFS), AO CMF, and the American Head and Neck Society (AHNS).

Dr. Le received his D.D.S. from the University of Michigan and his M.D. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he also completed a Certificate in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He further pursued advanced training through a Certificate in Head and Neck Oncologic and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery from the University of Florida at Jacksonville.
