UAB will be conducting virtual interviews. More information will be provided to applicants.
UAB has a total of four medical Physics Residents and offers two match spots every year in the first sentence.
Trainees in the program must meet the eligibility requirements of the Department and the Commission on Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP). The resident must hold a doctorate degree in physics, physical science, or engineering. Accepting F-1 OPT visa.
Step 1: Register for the Match via the MedPhys Match Website
The application will ask for the following information:
- Personal information (name, address, contact information)
- ABR certification status
- Disclosure of criminal behavior, academic violations, and/or licensure actions
- Employment history
- Military service history (if applicable)
- Education (Ph.D. only)
- Names of 3 references (including one from current advisor or department head)
- Personal statement (max 3000 characters) indicating why you want to go into medical physics, and anything else you want to communicate to the application reviewers.
- Uploaded CV (should include awards, publications and presentations)

Step 2: Apply to our program
Once your initial application is complete, please make sure to enter the program code 10111 to apply directly to the UAB Department of Radiation Oncology Medical Physics Program.
