The UAB General Surgery Residency Program has named its administrative and education chiefs for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Administrative Chief Residents
Janet Julson, M.D., and Adam Lucy, M.D., MSHQS, will serve as administrative chief residents. In these roles, Julson and Lucy will support the residency by creating and reviewing schedules, as well as developing coverage plans to ensure all clinical services remain fully staffed.
Education Chief Residents
Kelsey Montgomery, M.D., and Stephanie Rakestraw, M.D., have been chosen as the next education chief residents. Over the coming academic year, they will organize teams to lead weekly educational conferences, enhance existing curricular offerings and support the development and implementation of new educational initiatives for residents.
All chief residents represent the training program and advocate for their peers in discussions surrounding residency policies and guidelines.
“Our chief residents have distinguished themselves through their leadership, dedication and commitment,” says General Surgery Residency Program Director Britney Corey, M.D., MACM. “We are excited to see how they will shape the year ahead and leave a meaningful legacy for the program.”
