Nicole Rademacher, M.D., a research resident in the UAB General Surgery Residency Program, was named the Most Esteemed Postdoc at the UAB Postdoctoral Appreciation Luncheon and Awards Ceremony.
This award is a faculty-nominated award and is presented to a postdoctoral scholar who exemplifies academic distinction with an impressive record of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations that contribute meaningfully to the advancement of science. Rademacher’s recognition highlights her outstanding commitment to research excellence and her significant contributions to the scholarly community at UAB.
“Rademacher’s accomplishments truly set a standard of excellence for the postdoctoral community,” said Britney Corey, M.D., MACM, program director of the General Surgery Residency Program. “Her dedication to scholarship and her contributions to research highlight the extraordinary impact our residents can have on advancing science and patient care.”
Rademacher is interested in health services research. She attended the Medical College of Wisconsin for medical school before completing two years of general surgery residency at UAB. She is now in the second year of a two-year dedicated research fellowship in the Division of Surgical Oncology under the primary mentorship of Kristy Broman, M.D., MPH, the associate director for Quality in the O'Neal Cancer Service Line, and with the support of the UAB Department of Surgery and the Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education. Her research focus is on understanding the factors that drive equity and quality of cancer care within regional cancer care markets. She is also pursuing an MSPH with a concentration in Outcomes Research.
Rademacher was presented with a certificate and a gift during the ceremony, which was hosted by the UAB Office of Postdoctoral Education at Lister Hill Library.
“It is truly an honor to receive this award,” said Rademacher. “I am grateful for the mentorship and collaboration I’ve experienced at UAB, and this achievement is a direct reflection of Dr. Broman’s mentorship and support.”
