enrich week 300x300Beginning Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, Educational Research & Innovations in Clinical & Health Sciences (ENRICH) Week is underway at UAB Heersink School of Medicine. The annual conference brings together healthcare educators to discuss and promote innovations in teaching skills, curriculum development, and healthcare research. It is organized by UAB’s Healthcare Educators Academy (HEA), which provides faculty development and mentorship for early career educators in Medicine, Public Health, Health Professions, Optometry, Dentistry, and Nursing at UAB.

Monday featured a session for Healthcare Educators Academy Mentee Project Presentations. Presentations were made by Heersink School of Medicine faculty: Steven Fox, M.D., from the Department of Medicine; Winn Seay, M.D., from the Department of Medicine; and Channing Brown, M.D., from the Department of Pediatrics.

Tuesday featured additional presentations from HEA mentees: Sarah Gallups, Ph.D., MPH, RN, from the School of Nursing and Sid Gaddamanugu, M.D., from the Heersink School of Medicine, Department of Radiology. The new cohort of HEA mentees were also inducted at an evening reception in the Wallace Tumor Institute lobby, building excitement for the upcoming year of HEA mentor partnerships.

enrich week keynoteTina P. Gunaldo, Ph.D., DPT, MHSWednesday will feature this year’s keynote address, presented by Tina P. Gunaldo, Ph.D., DPT, MHS, founder of Collaborate for Health. Entitled Rethinking Collaboration: Integrating Interprofessional Learning, Anywhere, Anytime, the keynote will be held in the West Pavilion Conference Room E. Thursday will have two Emerging Educator Workshops and the ENRICH Week poster sessions all taking place in the West Pavilion Conference Center. The morning workshop, beginning at 9:30 a.m., will be led by William Brooks, Ph.D. and Mohammad Aldalou, M.D. and will discuss strategies for utilizing generative A.I. The afternoon workshop, beginning at 1:30 p.m. and led by William Sasser, M.D., Brian May, M.D., and David Taylor, M.D., will discuss building trust in professional training activities.
