Sydney Blankenship
Sydney grew up in Dothan, AL and attended Auburn University (War Eagle!) where she majored in biomedical sciences and minored in English. She attended UAB for medical school and is very excited to stay in Birmingham for chief year! She loves all fields of internal medicine, and is interested in primary care. Outside of medicine, Sydney enjoys traveling, hiking, and exploring new places with friends!

Thomas Ruli
Thomas was born and raised in Mandeville, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans. He attended undergraduate at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, where he played collegiate golf while earning a B.S. in Biology. He then returned to his home state to attend medical school at LSUHSC - New Orleans. Thomas completed an Internal Medicine residency here at UAB and has loved the opportunity for an additional year here in Alabama. He is currently applying for fellowship in cardiology. When not in the hospital, Thomas enjoys spending time with his wife and golden retriever, golfing, cooking, and watching sports.

Griffin Selch
Griffin grew up in rural Indiana and completed his undergraduate studies at Purdue University. He then attended medical school at their in-state rival, Indiana University — though his loyalty to the Boilermakers remains strong. After serving as Chief Resident, Griffin is excited to pursue a career in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Outside the hospital, Griffin enjoys running (often with co-residents), trying out new restaurants, and catching films at the local independent movie theater. He and his wife are proud dog parents to Sarge, a very good boy who loves exploring the trails around Birmingham.

Katie Vickers
Katie grew up in the small town of Henderson in western Kentucky. She attended the University of Kentucky for both her undergraduate studies—where she majored in Chemistry—and medical school. She is currently applying for a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Outside of medicine, Katie enjoys running, hiking with her husband John, reading, FaceTiming her nieces and nephews, and monthly dinner club with her co-chiefs.
