I wanted to capture an advanced degree because I was recently passed over for a promotion and I wanted to be poised and ready the next time the position becomes available. The trouble was that I was smart enough and could do the work, but I was not formally trained and credentialed. The CEM degree path has bridged the gap and now I can offer real project management solutions and strategies.

The curriculum is what lead me to choose the UAB CEM program. I was relatively new to the construction industry and felt like an imposter. The very valuable knowledge gained from the classes and from my groupmates have built my confidence.

I often felt that I was lacking in construction knowledge and that someone more qualified should have my job. My personal growth and skills learned while in the CEM program has turned me into a new and confident woman in the construction industry, and I am excelling professionally.

The CEM classes are well structured, highly informative, and the instructors are of high caliper. The CEM program administration has been simply amazing because they are so helpful and very responsive.

Since I started this program I have earned my PMP and LEED AP certifications. The courses offered in the CEM program makes acquiring these certifications such a breeze. This program has certainly expedited my construction career.

The CEM Program made me work and the professors truly challenged me. Being able to apply what I learned in the classroom into actual practice gives me confidence.

Leaving the military and preparing to return to the civilian construction industry after almost eleven years, I knew that I would need to retool my construction knowledge to be competitive for employment. The CEM program offered the online flexibility that I needed, and it covered the current relevant course material. I now have new tools and resources to help face the challenges required in the construction industry.

I started the CEM program to expand my career and it has exceeded my expectations. I have gained valuable knowledge from every single course, and it is interesting to see how things that I learned in the classes keeps coming up in everyday life. After building houses for several years, I recently applied for a position as an assistant project manager in the commercial construction industry. Without the challenges that the CEM program has given me, I do not feel that I would be prepared for this role. Thanks to this amazing program, I was just promoted to Civil Engineer I status by the county where I work. One of the best parts of the program are the friends that I have made from the very first group project. We communicate (network) multiple times per day, on weekends and even between terms.

CEM was a great experience, especially with the opportunity to interact online with the vast differences in classmate ages, job positions, and general locations, as peers are scattered throughout the world. It was beneficial to work with others on group projects that had different educational backgrounds and knowledge in the construction industry.

To the entire staff and instructors, you have put together an outstanding program that really translates to the reality of the real world. The information and tools that we received can be put to use today and that is so valuable.

Approaching graduation, I recently landed a job with a large commercial contracting company, but it was contingent on me completing my UAB degree. These opportunities would not have be possible if not for the CEM program and I am very thankful.
