Amy Landry, Ph.D., the Howard W. Houser Endowed Professor in Health Services Administration and director of the Executive Doctor of Science (DSc) in Healthcare Leadership program, has been awarded the Myron D. Fottler Exceptional Service Award by the Health Care Management (HCM) Division of the Academy of Management (AOM).
The international award, named for the former director of the UAB Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Administration-Health Services program (1983 – 1999), is not an annual award and is given only when a suitable nominee is presented. The Fottler award is recognized by many as the most distinguished award given by the HCM Division.
“This recognition from the Health Care Management Division is especially meaningful given its emphasis on sustained service and mentorship across the profession,” said Landry, who is also a double-alumna of UAB – earning her MSHA (Class 35) and PhD (2006). “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the Division’s mission over the years and to support the growth of our field through ongoing engagement, leadership, and collaboration. It is a tremendous honor to receive the Myron D. Fottler Exceptional Service Award.”
The Fottler award is given to those who have “provided extraordinary service to HCM and the profession,” including 10+ years of service to the HCM division, serving as a mentor to students and colleagues, and serving as a division officer.
For nearly two decades, Landry has served numerous roles across HCM including Academic-At-Large Member, Teaching Committee Chair, and Division Chair.
Landry is the fifth UAB HSA faculty member to earn the Fottler Award. She joins previous award winners Christy Harris Lemak (2020), Robert Weech-Maldonado (2016), Jane Banaszak-Holl (2014), and Stephen J. O’Connor (2013).
