Elizabeth Barstow, Ph.D., OTR/L, SCLV, FAOTA, Associate Professor, Department of Occupational TherapyUAB School of Health Professions’ Occupational Therapy course focusing on the study and treatment of age-related eye disease received Quality Matters certification.After an extensive review process, Quality Matters determined that “OT 679: Foundations in Low Vision Rehabilitation II,” met each of the 21 essential QM standards.
The course is taught by Elizabeth Barstow, Ph.D., OTR/L, SCLV, FAOTA, associate professor in the UAB Low Vision Rehabilitation program.
Barstow’s course is one of five offered in UAB’s Low Vision Rehabilitation Graduate Certificate program that is considered the preeminent low vision rehabilitation program for occupational therapists in the world. More than half of the OTs with a Specialty Certification in Low Vision (SCLV) are UAB alumni.
Quality Matters, a nationally ranked peer-review process for online courses, certifies programs through a review system that features 40 quality standards and a team of three reviewers. The review panel consists of a subject expert, a design expert and one external reviewer.
