UAB scholarship honors legendary healthcare entrepreneur Featheringill
William W. Featheringill, a key contributor to Birmingham’s ascent as an internationally recognized center for health care, has been honored by one of his former companies with a UAB scholarship in his name.The William W. Featheringill Scholarship in Health Informatics, established by his daughter Elizabeth Pharo, was endowed by SuccessEHS to honor Featheringill’s legacy as a visionary in health informatics.The endowment will support students in the UAB School of Health Professions’ Master of Science in Health Informatics program. Kara Caruthers honors her late mother with a UAB sponsored scholarship
As a 22-year-old med school student, Kara Caruthers, MSPAS, PA-C, failed anatomy. But that is the last time she failed anything academically.
In her 30s, Caruthers became an alumna of the UAB School of Health Professions’ Physician Assistant Studies program. In her 40s, she is a doctoral candidate in the School’s PhD in Nutrition Sciences program. Read more

Pioneering healthcare leader Biddle is first female to endow scholarship for UAB HSA
Neeysa Biddle, longtime healthcare leader of Ascension and St. Vincent’s Health Services, becomes the first female to endow a scholarship in the UAB School of Health Professions’ Department of Health Services Administration with the establishment of the Neeysa Davis Biddle Endowed Scholarship in Health Administration.
Biddle is a double alumna having earned a B.S. in Allied Health (currently Health Care Management) and an M.S. in Health Administration (MSHA Class 26). Read more

Ken E. Beasley, MSHA Class 19, establishes scholarship to honor his family
Ken E. Beasley, FACHE, an alumnus of the UAB School of Health Professions’ Master of Science in Health Administration program, has established the Beasley-Hall Endowed Scholarship in Health Administration. The scholarship, which honors Beasley’s family, will support students in the MSHA Residential program.

MSHA program awarded national prize for Excellence in Healthcare Management Systems Education
The University of Alabama at Birmingham Master of Science in Health Administration (MSHA) program has been chosen as a recipient of the 2018 CAHME/Cerner Award for Excellence in Healthcare Management Systems Education. The annual award delivered by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education , the premier accreditator in their field, in partnership with Cerner, one of the nation’s leaders in health care technology, recognizes outstanding education in the use of information technology and management systems in healthcare.
UAB Low Vision Rehab program wins Envision top honor
The UAB School of Health Professions’ Graduate Certificate in Low Vision Rehabilitation program received the Envision Oculus Award in recognition of it’s national and international impact on improving the daily lives of persons with low vision. The award, handed out annually since 2010, honors the Department of Occupational Therapy program’s professional collaboration, advocacy, research and education in the field of low vision rehabilitation.

Fottler establishes 1st endowed scholarship for UAB PhD program
Carol and Myron Fottler at the 2016-17 SHP Scholarship LuncheonMyron Fottler, Ph.D., who served as program director for the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Administration-Health Services program from 1983 until 1999, along with his wife Carol, has established the first endowed scholarship fund for the Ph.D. program located in the UAB School of Health Professions’ Department of Health Services Administration. Bill Parker establishes 1st endowed scholarship for PA program
Bill Parker, UAB PA, Class of 1972Bill Parker, a 1972 graduate of the UAB Physician Assistant Studies program, has established the first endowed scholarship for the program. The Bill Parker Endowed Scholarship in Physician Assistant Studies will provide scholarships for current and future students – it will be awarded for the first time in the spring.
