Additional exposure is available in transitional urology through UAB’s multidisciplinary spina bifida clinic and transitional care program.
Academic Development
Scholarly activity is a core component of the fellowship. Fellows are encouraged to pursue clinical research, with support for presentation at regional, national, and international meetings, and preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.
Clinical Responsibilities
Fellows hold full attending privileges at all participating institutions. Clinical duties include operating room involvement 3–4 days per week and a modest call commitment of approximately three weeks annually (residents take first call). Optional moonlighting opportunities are available for additional compensation but are not required.
