Biography

Dr. Michael "Frank" Gleason joined the UAB Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery in September 2025 as an assistant professor.

Dr. Michael "Frank" Gleason attended the UAB Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine and matriculated to the UAB General Surgery Residency program. During residency, he spent two years as a Veterans Affairs research fellow at the Birmingham VA, during which time he obtained a Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) degree. In his final year of residency, he served as an administrative chief resident. Dr. Gleason went on to complete Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at UAB.

He is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
