Brian Sims, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor in the Division of Neonatology, was selected to serve on the Committee on Diversity, Inclusion and Equity of the American Pediatric Society (APS). Dr. Sims will serve a three-year term beginning in 2021.

Dr. Wadhwa receives Emerging Scientist Award
Aman Wadhwa, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology was awarded an Emerging Scientist Award from the Children’s Cancer Research Fund. This award will help fund Dr. Wadhwa’s research project titled, “Body composition and adverse outcomes in pediatric Hodgkin lymphoma.”

Dr. Walley receives 2021 PHM Excellence in Clinical Care Award
Susan Walley, M.D., professor in the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine, received the 2021 Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) Excellence in Clinical Care Award. This award recognizes a pediatric hospitalist who exhibits excellent leadership in the clinical care of pediatric patients. The 2021 PHM awards were presented at the PHM21 Conference held this week from Aug. 4-6.

Pediatric Primary Care Clinic celebrates annual Reach Out and Read Day
The UAB Pediatric Primary Care Clinic (PCC) celebrated its annual Reach Out and Read Day on Tuesday, July 13 by passing out copies of “Leo Gets a Checkup” to patients and their families. The clinic staff, faculty and residents added to the celebration by dressing up in a toddler theme.
