Explore UAB

The communications team leads all strategic communication efforts for the UAB Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. We work closely with the UAB Heersink School of Medicine Dean's Office, the UAB Office of Marketing and Communications, and UAB Medicine Marketing and Communications to create unified messaging across our institution.

Our team maintains the department website, distributes weekly newsletters, manages all social media (LinkedIn and X), and produces and promotes important department news internally and externally.

Do my presentations need to follow UAB branding guidelines?

Yes. Our branding templates for PowerPoint and other presentation materials are easily accessible via the UAB Digital Asset Library, but we are happy to work with you on a custom template as needed.

How can I update the website?

Please submit a communications request using the dedicated form to send a request to update a webpage. Links and specific examples are always appreciated.

Can I post on the department’s social media channel?

Please send any requests for social media promotion using the dedicated form. We always welcome content suggestions from faculty and staff.


Branding Guidelines

UAB Medicine logos, templates, and digital assets are available on the UAB Digital Asset Library. Heersink School of Medicine units should use UAB Medicine branding in all marketing and promotional efforts.
