The UAB Heersink School of Medicine Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Residency Training Program welcomed four new PGY1 residents July 1, 2025.
The incoming PM&R residents are Hannah Ferry, D.O. (Marian University Wood College of Osteopathic Medicine), David Salchert, M.D. (University of South Alabama College of Medicine), Jason Sanchez, D.O., (University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine), and Jonathan Wilson, D.O. (Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine).
This incoming class will be the third group of residents to participate in the 4-year categorical residency program within PM&R, and one of the first classes to train in the new UAB Rehabilitation Pavilion. During their first year, PGY1 residents will rotate with various specialties across UAB, such as internal medicine, neurology, and rheumatology, in order to obtain the foundation for general medicine that will prepare them for specialty training in PM&R.
PM&R Vice Chair of Education and Residency Program Director Dale Colorado, D.O., MPH is excited about the direction and growth of the program, “We are so thrilled to welcome Hannah, David, Jason, and Jonathan to the UAB PM&R family and excited for them to begin their PM&R journey with us. We would like to thank everyone who has been involved with our residency recruitment. We appreciate their dedication and commitment to training our future PM&R leaders.”
