The UAB Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) welcomes two rehabilitation psychology postdoctoral fellows. Heather Clark, Ph.D. and Cassandra Mondesir, Psy.D. joins the department’s rehabilitation psychology division to enhance their skills through training, research opportunities, and mentorship.
“I am so glad to have the opportunity to work with and train these two fabulous clinicians. They are highly skilled, and we will spend the next two years honing and refining their skills in rehabilitation. As with all things rehab, it is a team effort, and I appreciate everyone in the department for their support of our training program,” says Casey B. Azuero, Ph.D., PM&R Director, Division of Rehabilitation Psychology and Rehabilitation Psychology Fellowship Training Director.
Heather Clark, Ph.D. graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Cognitive Science. She then worked as a clinical research assistant through Brown University in the Rhode Island Hospital Department of Psychiatry. Heather graduated from Missouri State University with a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology before pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Mississippi. She recently completed her predoctoral internship at the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) with an emphasis in behavioral health. Currently, she is a Postdoctoral Fellow at UAB in the department of PM&R to further specialize in Rehabilitation Psychology.
Cassandra Mondesir, Psy.D. is originally from New York and earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland in May 2025. She completed her predoctoral internship in neuropsychology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and is now a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UAB Medicine. Her clinical interests focus on neuropsychology, health, and rehabilitation, with multicultural considerations embedded throughout her work. She is especially passionate about providing equitable, person-centered care for diverse patient populations.
