Kennon Ulicny, D.O., assistant professor in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Pediatrics’ Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine, has been named associate program director of the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship.
“I am very excited to take on this new leadership role,” said Ulicny. “This is especially meaningful to me since I graduated from the fellowship a little over a year ago.”
In her new role, Ulicny will help with fellow recruitment, curriculum development, mentorship, educational conferences and evaluations. Drawing on her recent experience as a fellow, she hopes to help new fellows develop project ideas and identify elective opportunities that fit their interests and goals.
Ulicny also plans to support the fellowship’s flexible curriculum, which allows fellows to tailor their training to their career goals.
“I hope that through completion of fellowship training at UAB, our fellows will have cared for a wide breadth of pediatric patients with both common and rare clinical conditions,” Ulicny explained. She hopes they will also gain the skills and experience to move confidently into attending physician roles.
As associate program director, Ulicny looks forward to helping fellows make the most of their training while continuing to build on the program’s strengths.
Congratulations Dr. Ulicny on this well deserved appointment!
