Teat has been with the department for two years, serving in a role that touches many aspects of the division’s day-to-day operations. He keeps meeting minutes, assists physicians with their busy calendars, manages moonlighting schedules through updated spreadsheets and digitized calendar systems and more.

He describes his job in one word: fulfilling. “My role has a little bit of everything,” said Teat. “Two days for me never look the same and I enjoy being able to support our physicians and help things run smoothly.”

What keeps him at UAB? The people. “The people 100 percent, everyone I work with feels more like a friend than a co-worker and it makes for a fun environment to work in,” said Teat .

Outside of work, Teat enjoys camping with his wife, Riley and their two dogs, Baylee and Bells. For tent camping, one of his favorite spots is Burchfield in Brookwood within Tuscaloosa County. When looking for a cabin experience, he recommends Mentone or Lake Guntersville.

When it comes to Birmingham favorites, Teat says Taco Mama is always a reliable go-to, while Automatic is a top pick for a special occasion.
