Alicia Travis, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology

Catherine Brown, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Neurology, earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, AL. Dr. Brown completed her child neurology residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH and she completed her fetal and neonatal neurology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH. Her clinical interests include global health, fetal neurology, palliative care, compassionate communication and neurodevelopmental monitoring.

Brittany Huynh, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Adolescent Medicine, earned her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN. Dr. Huynh completed her residency in general pediatrics from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN and she completed her pediatric rheumatology and adolescent medicine fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN.

Kathryn P. King, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, earned her doctoral degree in psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, AL. Dr. King completed her internship in pediatric psychology at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, TX and her fellowship in pediatric psychology at Children's of Alabama. Her clinical and research interests include psychosocial aspects of hematological conditions, particularly sickle cell disease, as well as quality improvement and program development.

Sarah Prickett, M.D., instructor in the Divisions of Academic General Pediatrics and Hospital Medicine, earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, TX. Dr. Prickett completed her residency in general pediatrics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, AL. Her clinical interests include medical education, quality improvement and communication.

Stephanie Saaybi, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, earned her medical degree from the American University of Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon. Dr. Saaybi completed her residency in general pediatrics at MedStar Georgetown University in Washington, DC and she completed her pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, AL.

Alicia Travis, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, earned her doctoral degree in psychology from Pacific University School of Graduate Psychology in Hillsboro, OR. Dr. Travis completed her internship in pediatric neuropsychology at Ascension Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital in Hoffman Estates, IL and her fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Her clinical interests include neuropsychological evaluation in the pediatric oncology and hematology populations. Her research interests include improving characterization of neurobehavioral outcomes following treatment for childhood brain tumor and leukemia and delineating risk and resiliency factors related to cognitive outcomes.

The department is glad to have them on board and can't wait to see the impact they will make at UAB!
