Lalita_Shevde-Samant_ELAM_2025.jpgLalita Shevde-Samant, Ph.D., Professor, Molecular & Cellular Pathology, Associate Director for Education and Training, O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, was selected for the 2025-2026 class of the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine® (ELAM) program at Drexel University College of Medicine.

Established in 1995, the mission of the ELAM program is to develop and connect successful professionals to confidently lead academic health care into the future, while also focusing on transforming health care by seating and sustaining talented and dedicated leaders.

The ELAM track prepares individuals for senior leadership roles in schools of medicine, public health, dentistry and pharmacy, focusing on education and research in academic health centers.

“I am truly excited and honored to be accepted into the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine program,” Shevde-Samant said. “I am particularly looking forward to expanding my leadership skills to tangibly contribute to serve the needs of the UAB Heersink School of Medicine. I am fully committed to making the most of this program and am looking forward to a successful, value-adding experience. I am very thankful to our Department leadership and leaders from the Heersink School of Medicine for nominating me for this opportunity."
