UAB Callahan Eye Chief Executive Officer Jarrod Johnson, MBA, NHA, FACHE, has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of its “2025 Community Hospital Presidents and CEOs to Know.”
This annual list highlights leaders who are shaping the future of local healthcare through operational excellence, strategic growth, and deep community engagement. Johnson was recognized for his leadership at UAB Callahan Eye, where he has driven growth in ambulatory and emergency services, strengthened physician engagement, and guided the hospital to top-decile quality and safety performance.

Johnson has more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience, with prior executive roles at UPMC Carlisle in Pennsylvania, Cook County Health in Chicago, and Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, N.Y. In addition to his role at Callahan, he serves on the boards of UAB Hospital-Callahan Eye and the Eyesight Foundation of Alabama and as board treasurer for The Chautauqua Center.
