UAB Hospital has once again been recognized among the nation’s top hospitals for neurology and neurosurgery, according to the 2025-2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings.
UAB earned the No. 42 spot out of 1,227 top neurology and neurosurgery hospitals evaluated, marking another year of excellence for the institution. UAB also received high-performing designations in back surgery and stroke. According to U.S. News, programs with high-performing ratings typically have better patient outcomes compared to other hospitals.
The neurology and neurosurgery rating is based on multiple factors, including patient survival, the number of high-risk patients treated, patient experience, nurse staffing and access to advanced clinical technologies.
The annual rankings aim to assist patients and healthcare providers in making informed decisions about where to seek treatment for complex health conditions or routine elective procedures. The rankings consider a variety of patient-centric factors, such as overall patient experience and hospital staffing levels, providing a comprehensive overview of hospital performance.
