The UAB Department of Microbiology is happy to welcome graduate students who have recently joined UAB Microbiology labs for their training. These students, from the UAB Graduate of Biomedical Sciences program, will support the research being conducted in the labs of Department of Microbiology faculty members.

"The Department of Microbiology at UAB offers graduate students a uniquely enriching experience through its close-knit academic community, cutting-edge research opportunities, state-of-the-art facilities, and strong mentorship culture," said J. Victor Garcia-Martinez, Ph.D., professor and Charles H. McCauley Endowed Chair. "Unlike broader thematic programs, students who select a primary mentor from the department become part of the 'Microbiology family,' gaining access to all outstanding infrastructure and intellectual resources available."

He continued, "We look forward to the valuable insights these emerging scientists will contribute to our research. Microbiology students are self-motivated, curious, eager to contribute to ongoing research, and place a strong emphasis on community and collaboration."
