The one-day conference hosted by the UAB Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism in partnership with the UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center (UCDC) drew 130 attendees including health care professionals, exhibitors, faculty and staff.

The biannual Endocrinology Update is led by UAB clinical and research faculty and provides accredited continuing medical education (CME) for physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, and trainees from UAB and surrounding community health care facilities.

Faculty from the Department of Medicine Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism and the Department of Surgery, including several UCDC members, presented the latest information on critical topics including automated insulin delivery for diabetes, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), growth hormone deficiency, testosterone, thyroid disorders, adrenal cancer, bone disorders, and more.

In addition to attending nine educational sessions, participants had the opportunity to network and visit with exhibitors throughout the day to learn about the latest endocrinology practices, technologies and services.

Event leaders Alexandra Dodd, M.D., and Anne Weaver, M.D., assistant professors in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, said they were impressed with this year’s turnout.

“I am elated with how well the conference turned out,” said Dodd, an associate scientist in the UCDC. “We had a wonderful turnout of endocrinologists and primary care providers from near and far. Many thanks to our outstanding speakers and exhibitors who helped make this event a success.”

Weaver said, “We had an incredible turnout at the conference, and it was truly rewarding to connect with fellow providers in the region. The insights shared by our outstanding speakers were invaluable, and we are grateful for the opportunity to learn from them. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event a success!”
