Each month, faculty in the Department of Cell, Developmental, and Integrative Biology (CDIB) come together for a social event that invites all faculty, staff, trainees, and students to foster connections outside their labs.
A CDIB lab, faculty, or staff member hosts a different themed event each time. Past events included a Caribbean cuisine event led by the lab of Susan Campbell, Ph.D., associate professor, a painting party led by the lab of Bradley Yoder, Ph.D., professor and chair, and an Oktoberfest event led by the lab of HaoSheng Sun, Ph.D., assistant professor.
In November, the Sun Lab hosted the CDIB Lab Olympics, which consisted of four lab-themed competitions: a pipette accuracy challenge, a gel loading sprint, a lab coat relay, and a scientific trivia showdown.
The event was a huge success, with five lab teams securing winning spots. Congratulations to the following winning labs:
5th place: Sun Lab
4th place: Song Lab
3rd place (Bronze): Mattheyses Lab
2nd place (Silver): Thalacker-Mercer Lab
1st place (Gold): Yoder Lab
This month, CDIB gathered to celebrate the holidays with a festive party featuring a lab ornament-decorating challenge. Congratulations to the winning labs:
