Heersink medical students held a white coat ceremony for aspiring young medical professionals at Barrett Elementary School on September 26, 2025. After donning their white coats and reciting the Hippocratic Oath, the third-, fourth-, and fifth-graders learned about careers in healthcare and tried out various medical instruments. The program is the first of its kind for Birmingham City Schools. Throughout the year, Heersink students returned to lead sessions on such topics as the circulatory system, CPR, and heart health.
