The annual Trainee Research Symposium (TRS) is the Department of Medicine's major research day. It is held on the first Wednesday in March each year.
All trainees of the Department of Medicine are encouraged to submit an abstract describing their original basic, clinical, or population research.
- Residents (PGY 1-3)
- Fellows (PGY 4-7)
- Postdoctoral scholars (MD or PhD doing post-doctoral training in the Department of Medicine)
- Graduate students/medical students with DOM mentors (must be currently enrolled at UAB)
- Undergraduate students with DOM mentors (must be currently enrolled at UAB)
- Staff scientists in DOM
All accepted abstracts will be presented in poster format at a Poster Session following the keynote lecture. Judges will review all posters and awards will be given for the top poster presenters from each category. Each poster will be judged on three major criteria:
- scientific merit
- presentation and communications skills
- evidence that the trainee truly understands the significance of his/her work and played the major role in obtaining the data upon which the poster is based
