The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) recently completed their annual review of all the Department's GME programs. All our programs, both core and the fellowships, have earned continued accreditation and no citations. This is a testament to the hard work of all our fellowship directors, coordinators, leadership, faculty, staff, and trainees.
Division of Preventive Medicine Celebrates Heart Month
Did you know that cardiovascular disease in the U.S. kills approximately one woman every 80 seconds? The good news is that 80 percent of cardiac events may be prevented with education and lifestyle changes. That’s why the UAB Division of Preventive Medicine came out in force on February 2 for the American Heart Association’s “National Wear Red Day” to bring awareness to women’s heart health issues.
Telehealth Grant Connects 19 Locations to UAB

The UAB Telehealth Program, directed by Eric Wallace, MD (Associate Professor, Nephrology) has received $500,000 in a grant by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to fund telehealth equipment in 9 rural hospitals and 10 public health departments in Alabama, increasing access to care across the state in areas that need it.
