At the Employee Assistance and Counseling Center, Amber Harris serves as the Program Coordinator II, where she assists with the administrative operations supporting employee well-being and counseling initiatives. In this role, she works closely with the EACC Director to manage internal financial transactions and departmental purchases — all while ensuring consistent, compassionate client support. Whether coordinating schedules, facilitating internal processes, or contributing to strategic improvements, Amber plays an integral part in EACC’s mission to promote wellness and care within the workplace.
With more than a decade of experience in administrative leadership and program coordination, Amber is known for her high standards of professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage high-volume workloads with a calm, focused approach. Since joining UAB in 2022, she has actively contributed to organizational growth — chairing and serving on committees devoted to creating spaces where others can grow, connect, and feel valued. In 2024, Amber was honored as the inaugural recipient of the Staff Award for exemplifying UAB’s shared values: collaboration, acting with integrity, respecting all, and excelling. These contributions reflect her deep commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture and supporting the continuous development of both individuals and teams.
Amber is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in Psychology at UAB, with minors in Communication Management and Human Services — a path that mirrors her passion for people-centered work. Originally from Houston, Texas, she brings warmth, initiative, and a relationship-first approach to everything she does. With a heart as big as Texas itself, Amber is deeply driven by the belief that connection and care are the foundation of any thriving organization.
