Brandon HouseBrandon House is an advanced endoscopy technician at UAB who previously served in the U.S. Army. He’s no stranger to serving the most vulnerable in tough moments.
But even the strongest caregivers can need help themselves. After struggling with severe anxiety, Brandon made the difficult decision to step away from work to focus on his mental health.
While it was the right choice, it left him in a financially tough spot. With rent due and an eviction notice looming, he turned to the UAB Benevolent Fund’s Employee Emergency Assistance Program (EEAP) for help.
“Applying felt like swallowing my pride, but I was desperate,” he said. “I needed to make sure my family had a place to stay.”
The support Brandon received did more than keep a roof over his head. It gave him space to breathe and focus on healing. “It was a weight lifted and a chance to get back on track.”
Brandon encourages others that are experiencing challenging times to reach out and ask for help. Generous donations have made EEAP more than just a program—it’s a community of people looking out for one another.
“You’re not alone, and there are resources here for you,” he said. “Don’t hesitate to ask. It can make all the difference.”
