Because social media guidance and platform best practices change quickly, we are instituting a temporary pause on new account approval and creation. This ensures everyone is working within the same guidelines and that our collective presence remains strong, consistent, and sustainable.

What We’re Doing During the Pause

While account requests are paused, our team will be:

  • Updating UAB’s Social Media Guidelines and moving relevant sections into official UAB Policies.
  • Evaluating our social media ecosystem to understand where accounts are most and least active.
  • Strengthening our collective presence by developing clearer recommendations for collaboration.

Your Options

During this important, temporary pause, consider other options to conduct outreach for your initiative, including collaborating with appropriate existing UAB social media profiles and/or submitting a publicity request form.

Exceptions

We recognize that new accounts may occasionally be necessary — for example, when a new center or major initiative is established. Other Ways to Share Your Message

Remember, social media is just one communication tool. Depending on your goals, other channels may be equally effective, or even better, for reaching your audience.
