Student Counseling Services (SCS), at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is a resource dedicated to the mental well being of all in the campus community. This page provides eight different avenues for mental health support, aside from just scheduling an appointment with counseling. Everyone has different mental health needs, and SCS is committed to each individual finding what path is right for them.
Schedule an appointment with SCS
- To schedule an appointment with a counselor, head to the patient portal. Whether counseling is new to a student, or if they are returning, SCS will help them find the right counselor for their needs.
College can be challenging—but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Our Drop-In Workshops are designed to help you build practical, actionable skills to manage common difficulties students face.
Whether you're dealing with stress or relationship issues, seeking greater connection with others, managing overwhelm and other difficult emotions, or want to learn how to create calm in your life through mindfulness practices, these workshops offer tools you can use right away.
Our workshops are led by SCS staff and interns, free and open to all UAB students.
No registration required—just drop in!
