AB Shared Values: Act with Integrity - Angela Stowe & Herbert Wilkerson

The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Hill Student Center and Disability Support Services (DSS) will offer a pop-up sensory room for students during final exams, providing a calming space for those who may feel overwhelmed during the end-of-semester rush.

The sensory room, located in Hill Student Center Room 312, will be open Dec. 8–12 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The temporary space is designed to give students a quiet environment to decompress, manage stress, and regulate sensory overload — a resource especially beneficial for students with sensory sensitivities, but open to anyone in need of a break.

Sensory rooms help reduce stress by offering low-stimulation environments where students can pause, reorganize and recenter before returning to academic responsibilities. UAB encourages all students to take advantage of the space as they navigate finals week.

For more information and to book the pop-up sensory room, contact Disability Support Services at dss@uab.edu.
