UAB Campus Dining recently hosted an extraordinary culinary event featuring James Beard Award-recognized Chef Frank Stitt, bringing a taste of Birmingham’s renowned fine dining scene to campus. The event took place at The Commons on the Green, where students, faculty, and staff gathered to experience dishes inspired by Stitt’s celebrated restaurants: Bottega, Chez FonFon, and Highlands Bar & Grill.
Everyone enjoyed a thoughtfully curated menu that included Tuna Niçoise Salad, Coq au Vin, and Hot Moroccan Salad with Yogurt-Marinated Chicken, each prepared with the attention to flavor and freshness that defines Chef Stitt’s culinary philosophy.
“This event was an incredible opportunity for our students and campus community to engage with one of Birmingham’s most iconic chefs,” said Allie Foster, Campus Executive Chef for UAB Campus Dining. “Chef Stitt’s presence highlighted the connection between local culinary excellence and the elevated dining experiences we strive to bring to UAB.”
The collaboration was part of UAB Dining’s partnership with the James Beard Foundation, which celebrates innovation and diversity in food culture across the country. Events like this reinforce UAB Dining’s commitment to offering students more than just a meal, but a memorable, educational, and inspiring experience.
