The University of Alabama at Birmingham's Hill Student Center and Disability Support Services (DSS) is offering a pop-up sensory room for students during finals week. A sensory room is a place where students can escape overstimulation, calm down, and reorganize themselves, also beneficial to anyone who is feeling overwhelmed or simply needs a break.
The mobile pop-up sensory room can be used during events across campus and can be reserved through DSS. This kit can include low-lighting/lamps, comfortable seating, white noise machines, fidget items, and art supplies.
From April 28 to May 2, the sensory room will be open in the Hill Student Center, Room 312, during the following hours:
Monday – Thursday: 8 AM – 9 PM
Friday: 8 AM – 6 PM
Saturday: 10 AM – 2 PM
Sunday: 12 PM – 9 PM
For more information and to book the pop-up sensory room, contact Disability Support Services at dss@uab.edu.
