UAB Student Affairs has named Nikki Sarabat the October Employee of the Month, recognizing her service, professionalism and efficiency in her role as the UAB Career Center’s assistant director for Career Education and Career Consultant for the College of Arts and Sciences.
Each month, the Student Affairs Professional Development Committee selects an employee who exemplifies the Blazer Way — integrity, respect, accountability and excellence — from a pool of nominations submitted by colleagues across the division.
What nominators said about Nikki:
She truly lives out our organization's values of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and well-being in everything she does. She takes ownership of her work with dedication and integrity, always following through and finding solutions before challenges even arise. Her collaborative nature brings people together, creating an atmosphere where every team member feels valued and heard.
Respect is evident in the way Nikki advocates tirelessly for her students. She treats each student as an individual, listening carefully to their goals, challenges, and aspirations. Nikki continually seeks ways to innovate and enhance services, ensuring that our programs remain impactful and relevant. Nikki took the initiative to create a new workshop focused on professional communication and etiquette in direct response to requests from faculty and staff who identified this as a growing student need. By designing and implementing this presentation, she demonstrated both responsiveness and innovation, ensuring that students gain the practical skills necessary to present themselves confidently in academic, professional, and networking environments.
