UAB Student Affairs has named Mark Borden the August Employee of the Month, recognizing his service, professionalism, and efficiency in his role as assistant director of Technology & Production Services in the Hill Student Center.
Each month, the Student Affairs Professional Development Committee selects an employee who exemplifies the Blazer Way — integrity, respect, accountability, and excellence — from a pool of nominations submitted by colleagues across the division.
Borden, who joined Student Affairs in 2024, has become a key resource for departments across the university- known for his ability to be a team player and innovative infrastructure changes to the Hill Center.
What nominators said about Mark:
“Since his start as the Hill Student Center assistant director of Technology and Production Services, Mark has worked tirelessly to improve our facility’s overall operation. Mark is a team player who can often be found assisting in the work of others such, as working alongside our student team in event set-ups, re-arranging office furniture for a building tenant who was medically unable to, or playing an integral role in the upcoming student employee all-staff training being held this August. As the Hill Student Center has faced various staff vacancies this year, Mark has been specifically helpful to me, stepping up in any way that I need, including staff mentorship and facility improvement planning. Mark is a staunch professional who leads with compassion, integrity, and a positive attitude.”
Congrats to Mark. Blaze on!
