Wellscreens, the annual biometric health screenings from UAB Employee Wellness and LiveHealth Smart Alabama, is returning to campus Oct. 2. Registration for 2025 dates opens Monday, Aug. 18. The 15-minute screening is free to all benefit-eligible UAB, UAB Hospital, UAB LLC, UAB Health System/UA Health Services Foundation and Cooper Green employees.
Wellscreens measure blood pressure, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, blood sugar, BMI, triglycerides and cholesterol/HDL ratio, giving participants a snapshot of their overall health status. Participants will receive their results at the end of their appointment and will be able to access within the My Health Rewards portal 10-14 days following the screening.
“We’re excited to offer Wellscreens again this fall, making it easy for employees to take charge of their health without leaving the workplace,” said Employee Wellness Specialist Emily McKellar. “It only takes 15 minutes, and it’s a simple way to know your numbers and stay on top of your well-being.”
Eligible employees enrolled in a 2025 medical plan can earn up to $350 a year through the My Health Rewards program by completing healthy activities and behaviors throughout the year — including completing 1,500 points for a Wellscreens visit. Employees who are unable to schedule a Wellscreens visit, or who have already had lab work taken after January 1 that meets the requested metrics, can earn points by having a health care provider complete and return a Wellscreens Physician Fax Form.
Wellscreens appointments will be available October 2 through November 25, at 10 locations across campus. Visit uab.edu/wellscreens to see a complete schedule and book an appointment.
