Heaton named associate editor of Workplace Health & Safety

Heaton KarenKaren Heaton, PhD, CRNP, FNP-BC, Associate Professor and PhD Coordinator in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing has been named the associate editor for continuing education of Workplace Health & Safety: Promoting Environments Conducive to Well-Being and Productivity.

In her role as the Associate Editor for Continuing Education Heaton assists authors in the evaluation of their article ideas prior to peer review, and facilitates the links between academic researchers and clinicians. This journal is an organizational initiative of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN) to promote the professional growth of their membership.

Workplace Health & Safety: Promoting Environments Conducive to Well-Being and Productivity is the official publication of the American Association of Occupational Health Nursing, Inc. (AAOHN). It is a scientific peer-reviewed Journal. Its purpose is to support and promote the practice of occupational and environmental health nurses by providing leading edge research findings and evidence-based clinical practices.

Heaton earned her bachelor's degree from UAB School of Nursing, her master's from the University of Louisville, a post-master's Family Nurse Practitioner certificate from George Washington University, and her doctorate in nursing from the University of Kentucky.
