Moneyham receives Alumni Legacy Leader Award

Moneyham, PhD, RN, FAAN, professor and senior associate dean for academic affairs in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing has been selected to receive the Alumni Legacy Leader Award from Indiana University. Recipients were chosen from a group of associates, bachelor’s, master’s and doctorally prepared alumni from the university and were nominated by their peers. 100 individuals were chosen to receive this distinguished award.

Awardees will be honored at an alumni brunch June 21 during the school’s 100th Anniversary Celebration Weekend.

Moneyham earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Berea College, her master’s in nursing from University of Kentucky, and her doctorate in nursing from Indiana University.

Moneyham’s nursing expertise is in psychiatric/mental health and community health nursing.  Over the course of her career her research has evolved from a focus on the effects of stress and coping on health outcomes of women to a focus on the adaptational outcomes of women with HIV. Moneyham has an established program of funded research that spans 15 years and is focused on developing and testing of interventions supportive of women with HIV.
