ASC 3 PIgsOpera Birmingham presents the fun-filled musical adventure “The Three Little Pigs” at UAB’s Alys Stephens Center.Introduce children to the magic of opera with a playful twist on a familiar story.

On Sunday, Nov. 2, Opera Birmingham and the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center will present “The Three Little Pigs.” Join ArtPlay for fun, fairy tale-inspired art in the lobby at 3 p.m. before Opera Birmingham takes the stage at 4 p.m.

Perfect for kids and adults alike, this delightful adaptation of the classic fairy tale combines laughter, learning and lively music in a way that is accessible, engaging and thoroughly entertaining.

This classic children’s story comes to life through the music and familiar melodies of Mozart. Adapted for the opera stage by John Davies, three young pigs must figure out how to build a house to protect themselves from the Big Bad Wolf. While two of the pigs just want to play and have fun, Despina Pig goes to the library and learns how to build a strong house to protect her friends. With a tale that promotes problem-solving, resilience and the importance of literacy as a tool for facing challenges, children and adults alike will be drawn in by this colorful and engaging production, which is sung in English.
