Returning in person for the first time since the pandemic, the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Equal Access Birmingham is set to host its 10th Annual Heart + Sole 5K on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Railroad Park.
Proceeds will support EAB’s mission to provide free medical care, medication and health education to medically uninsured or underinsured residents in Birmingham.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate the 10th year of our flagship fundraiser, and to welcome everyone back in person for the first time since before the pandemic,” said Jordan Robinson, development director for EAB. “This milestone is only possible thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and the City of Birmingham, and we look forward to a morning filled with fitness, community and purpose.”
Equal Access Birmingham is a free clinic run by medical students and staffed entirely by volunteers.
Registration is $25 for Heersink School of Medicine students and $35 for non-HSOM students and ends Oct. 10. The race will begin at 9 a.m. at the corner of First Avenue South and 16th Street South.
