Bio
Sahar Fathallah-Shaykh is a professor of Pediatric Nephrology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and an expert clinician with over two decades of experience treating children with various kidney diseases at Children's of Alabama. She completed her specialized training at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Northwestern University, where she also served on the faculty before joining UAB in 2008. Fathallah-Shaykh’s expertise spans chronic kidney disease (CKD), congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract and dialysis; she previously directed the pediatric dialysis unit for over ten years. Her academic contributions include serving as a site principal investigator for multiple clinical trials related to CKD management, publishing research in reputable journals and leading quality improvement initiatives focused on areas like dialysis and food insecurity.
