Amerson Brown MeganMegan Amerson-Brown, Ph.D., CIC, MLS, an assistant professor in the Division of Laboratory Medicine, is a recipient of the 2024 Extraordinary Service Award from the American Society for Microbiology (ASM). Amerson-Brown was recognized for her remarkable service to ASM's journal, Microbiology Spectrum. 

Amerson-Brown has served as reviewing editor on the editorial board for Spectrum for nearly three years. In this role, she reviews three to four manucripts per month and writes commissioned commentaries highlighting select manuscripts.

Microbiology Spectrum is a peer-reviewed research journal published by ASM. Spectrum was established in 2021 and publishes research from all domains of basic, applied and clinical microbial sciences. ASM journals publish 26% of all microbiology articles and contribute 44% of all microbiology citations.
