Timothy Johnson, M.D., is an ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist focused on the medical and surgical management of glaucoma and other complex anterior segment diseases. He earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine and completed ophthalmology residency training at Wills Eye Hospital. After practicing ophthalmology in Tuscaloosa for more than a decade, Johnson completed his fellowship training in glaucoma at the UAB Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.
In his current role, Johnson contributes to the academic environment through teaching and mentorship of trainees in his role as Residency Program Director. As an experienced ophthalmologist, he provides specialized care for patients with glaucoma, emphasizing early detection, individualized treatment planning, and long-term preservation of vision. His patient-centered approach to care is grounded in continuity, accessibility, and a commitment to preserving vision through evidence-based glaucoma management.
